Norm, Good question! Perhaps someone else can give us a consise explanation of exactly what synchronous SCSI is? I would hazard a quess at it being somthing to do with multiple devices on a SCSI bus. I rember reading somewhere that sync SCSI is quicker, but no reason was given why it should be. My A3000 will not boot with sync SCSI turned on, the HD light comes on and stays on. The floppy drive remains inactive. There are several ways of toggling the setting. Assuming you can boot at all(try swithching off then on again quickly,this might get you to the insert disk screen,also might damage your Amiga!) use a Batmen setting utility like Scrammer or Batmem. These can be used to edit the sync SCSI setting amongst other things on the A3000. They are both here in the libs. As far as I know the default setting is off, so unless you have changed this setting yourself I dont think this is your problem. Some drives have a jumper for sync/async operation, again I dont know what this means in relation to the drives themselves or any potential problems with 3.1.. Best of luck, Rob.
