#HAM format, anyone?
Having grabbed some HAM format files from the various libraries, I've done a
little bit of "experimentation" on my own. The HAM formatting that I've seen
is very similiar to the IFF standard; as a matter of fact, the only way I can
really tell whether the image I d/l'ed or not is of HAM qualifications is the
colour palette signature (most of the ones I have DO have 64 colours.)
Viewing the graphic in question through an IFF viewer (Graphics Workshop)
results in what one could call a "contoured" photo- one where the edges "stand"
out. It would make sense to me that the following coding is therefore an
"offset" of the original. And the discussion about the offsets would make the
different scan lines possibly have more than the original colours in the
palette…a very interesting proposal, and one that will probably throw me a
loop or two as I try to decode some of them. (But what's programming without
a problem to overcome? 🙂
As to the FAXing of the info- hey, I truly appreciate the offer! But to save
us all some long distance telephone calls here (considering I am outside of
Chicago, howzabout yourselves?), if you have access to a photocopier machine
and a couple of stamps, mail would be just as handy for me. (I figure that may
be why you would want to FAX it instead of "uploading" to one of the libraries-
you have paper proofs as opposed to digitalized).

And. if you can read IBM diskettes (sorry about that…), if you want to
request some of the graphics I've managed to get, or MOD files (question-
considering the IBM has "expanded" to S3M files- basically, up to 16 channel/99
instrument MOD files- is the grandmother (Paula) of the original MOD able to
keep up with it? I've only noticed some 4 channel MOD files in your
libraries), or whatever, just request it…I'll do this in an effort to "pay"
for the time you'll be putting forth.
