#Hard Drive Fun(?)
I recently had "read error" and "checksum error" messages on my GVP Series
II Accelerator Board for my Amiga 2000. I used Ami-Back Tools, and "repaired"
bad blocks. Everything seems to be fine now (fingers crossed).
I am not a "techie", so I stumble through a lot of the tech jumbo. I just
downloaded "XPrep2.LZH", for I feel that very soon I will have to reprep my
drive. Wish there were some documentation on exactly how to configure this
hard drive. I have another SCSI drive, 250 mb, where I am keeping most of my
programs. All that I have installed on DH0 (my 68030) is my Toaster and the
2.1 OS.
I am just wondering why I started getting error messages. The drive has
always worked fine. I just hooked up to the Internet, and am I being naive, or
could there have been power surges going into my serial port? My modem seems
to be working fine. I guess I'm searching for any other reason other than my
drive screwing up, ha ha…but I notice the drive light coming on during
Internet ses- sions (not of course when uploading or downloading).
Is there any good documentation on your hard drives? Your manual leaves
non- techies like me cold. If it was explained in plain english I could
probably un- derstand…
Anyway, thanks for listening,
