#Stereo audio INTO 4000?!
Attention 4000 owners:
Were you aware that there is a stereo audio input built into the 4000
motherboard?
Did you know that you could mix another stereo audio signal into your
Amiga's sound output?
If you've got an internal or external CD ROM drive, did you know it's
possible to listen to your audio CDs _THRU_ your Amiga speakers while
_SIMULTANEOUSLY_ leaving the Amiga audio ports available for other
software?
It appears that C= designed a stereo input on the motherboard to
support the as-yet-to-be-released C= CD-ROM for the 4000. Of course,
they never bothered to mention this in the literature…….
Finally, after several months of searching, I have found a company
that sells the adaptor cable you need to jack into your 4000. They
offer several solutions: If you've got an external CD-ROM, you'd
want to get the LMSI-Amiga-RCAB adaptor (this converts from a
standard 3pin header plug to 2 RCA plugs mounted on a PC edge bracket
– just use standard audio cables to plug your CD [or other device]
into your Amiga audio). They also make a LMSI-Amiga-18B. (This is
the same as the one above, but has a 1/8" minijack on the bracket,
instead of 2 RCA connectors – this is useful if your CD came with one
of those 1/8" to stereo RCA plug cables.) Finally, if you've got an
internal CD-ROM, they make a variety of adaptor cables for many
different drives. Your best bet is to call them and describe which
CD-ROM you have, and tell them that you need to hook it to an _LMSI_
connector on your Amiga 4000. (The key is you need a LMSI connector
on one end of the cable – the other end should match up to your CD
type.)
