Hi, Jerry– Welcome back! We mineral collectors are in danger of being outnumbered by lapidaries, fossil collectors, and sometimes even cavers… Rod's disk is still busted, Ken has disappeared, and so on. I understand about free time – most of mine is spent trying to catch up after assorted trips lately. Today I am in OK (I'm sure, I looked out the window); The next time you hear from me, I will likely be in CA again, and so it goes. You know what I am going to ask about that pyromorphite – so why haven't you checked it with UV already? I am not holding my breath, with all that iron about, but you never know… Nathan sent me a couple of fascinating mystery specimens from Bancroft area. One has blue and yellow fluorescents under longwave, looking a lot like diopside and scapolite (or wernerite or meionite as you prefer) under UV, until I woke up and noticed diopside or albite (Nathan's favorite for the blue) is not supposed to fluoresce under longwave and not shortwave. The other was a specimen from Goulding-Keene (?) quarry with blue sodalite streaks and pips of something among the white that fluoresced greenish-white shortwave and orange longwave. My wild guess is white sodalite, but… Got any mystery fluorescents to match those? –Doug
