Lydell: I've been following your thread and have some similar experience with the Fiery but a different take on the Syquest. I haven't had any problems swapping Syquest cartridges with my local service bureaus which all use MACs. As long as I format the cartridge they have no difficulty reading and writing to the cartridge via PC File Exchange. Over the past month I've transferred over 1000 scanned images in .TIF format without using any additional software. Reading MAC formatted Syquest cartridges is a different story, no go. Now on the Fiery issue. I've found that files printed to the Fiery vary dramatically when printed via different programs. For instance, Paint Shop Pro always gives me too much red, PhotoStyler gives me too much green, Photoshop is the closest to neutral but printing out of it is a royal pain and Composer is too dark. Tomorrow I'm going to try rendering a few images with no gamma correcting at all and see if that changes my results. Are you using gamma correction when creating your 3DS .tif files? If so, what value? Currently I get no correlation between my monitor and Fiery output. The complicating factor is that the same files look much closer to the monitor when I print to the HP 650c. I'm hoping that the secret to consistent Fiery output is in a specific Gamma value. I have none of these issues when going to video, print is like black magic. – Bob Ritger
