#Problem 3DS4/Win95
I've been running 3DS4 under Windows '95 June beta (build 490 as I recall) and
am using a nice Win95 feature to automatically launch 3DS4 in MS-DOS mode as
soon as I click the icon.
The key to this is a not-so-obvious feature under the second tab of the
Shortcut-Properties dialog box. That feature allows the user to specify that
your computer automatically be rebooted in MS-DOS mode prior to running the
chosen application. You even have the option of booting under a special
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT which you can tailor specifically for the chosen
application. You can configure things so that your system automatically
reboots itself back into Win95 Windows mode as soon as you exit your MS-DOS
application.
I find this to be the best of both worlds–MS-DOS performance and compatibility
for 3DS4 in a customized MS-DOS environment (in which I load special Targa and
Vibrant drivers, etc.) which is automatically invoked every time I run 3DS4.
Perhaps this option is widely known, but it was a new revelation for me when I
happened to stumble upon it. I think it's a good option to consider.
Happy animating,
