Q: I just got a new machine with 128 MB of RAM, but 3D Studio only sees 64 MB
of it. How do I get 3DS to recognize the additional memory I now have?
A. There are some memory managers that are only capable of managing 64MB of
memory. I recommend using a memory manager that explicitly handles above that
64meg limit, for example QEMM 7.x. Using QEMM you could configure your memory
using this procedure:
1. Use the QEMM command SCANMEM to determine the amount of memory on the
system. SCANMEM returns a value called USERAM, in the form of a memory range.
Write down the value returned.
2. Use that USERAM value in the QEMM line you are loading in your CONFIG.SYS.
For example: DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM USERAM=XXXX-XXXX
Other memory managers may have similar procedures to access above the 64MEG
limit. Consult the user guide or manufacturer for details.
