<I really like the dragon, especially the one with wings.> Thanks, The model of the dragon was sculpted in clay and then digitized. The wings were generated by hand using 3dstudio. <Is this a service idea or are you trying to market the scaners> <themselfs? How long does it take to scan a model? How much is> <the scanner? Can this scanner be used as a regular flat bed type?> The Digibot II Laser Scanner is for sale and we also offer full-service model creation for those who don't have the time or money to purchase there own scanner. It can take from one hour to twelve hours to scan a model depending on the complexity. I will E-mail you costs privately. This scanner uses a red laser beam and a motion platform to "walk" the laser along an object surface. The scanner records the distance of each point it samples as it walks across a surface. The points are sampled in slices or cross sections that can be edited one by one to generate a perfect hole-less mesh. So no, The scanner only scans 3D objects. <I have been looking for a tool in helping me create 3D models of> <people without paying $500 per person or thing.> Our scanner and service would be considered high-end, so it probably wouldn't meet your cost requirements. However, we are currently in the process of generating our own CD of meshes that would be competitively priced and totally awesome I might add. I will keep you informed. Our service and scanner is presently marketed toward gaming companies, engineering CAD/CAM, and other applications such as these. Timothy <Pixel Pusher> NVision Inc. & Digibotics
