LW4.0 Upgrade
Jim,
DPS told me that there is currently a timing problem at 100 MHZ, and that I
should clock the motherboard down to 90Mhz.
I did this by switching a couple of jumpers on the MB. I also had some
strange IRQ conflict. After changing them around to no effect, I put them back
the way they were, and the problem went away. I also reverted to my original
autoexec and config, which the DOS 6.22 update changed for some reason. (It
dropped my sound card initialization.)
The PVR requires 6.22 according to the manual. A system at work (non-PVR)
developed a network card problem after installing the 6.22 update. It had
dropped the net card initialization the same way it dropped my sound card, so I
think it's a "feature" of the update process.
Note: I'm still more of an Amiga guy than Intel, and I was never much of a
hard or software hacker, so the above information is only as accurate as I can
make it. It comes with no warranty, guarantee or assurance, stated or implied.
🙂
I've never been first on my block with the new toy. Not sure if it's a good
or a bad thing. <wry, laconic smile>
