With the digital disk based camera backs and low-cost digital tape formats I'm not sure how useful it is to take the flyer into the field. It's especially risky if it is your only edit system. So for low-end users it will probably saty studio based and the exteranl bay will facilitate moving it between workstations. The higher end folks that are going to be interested in digital field aquisition are probably willing to pay the extra for a box that will clamp to the back of their existing cameras in place of the old analog tape dockable. They were so happy when the dockable took over from the portable (allowing greater mobility or the reduction of the field crew by 1 person) that I don't see a lot of people wanting to go back to the camera-wired-to-other-box arrangement if there is an alternative. wmc – via Autopilot!
