Tks, TP@VTU 1995 Wavey Awards For Excellence in LightWave 3D Animations The premiere of the Wavey Awards was held Aug.9th at the Orpheum Theater in downtown LA during the SIGGRAPH'95 convention. Planned as an annual soiree, it was sponsored by NewTek, Video Toaster User Magazine and Desktop Images. Attended by approx.1000 people,thousands of dollars in prizes donated by top software companies were given away during the reception prior to the free event. Hosted by comedy god Penn Gillette, the ceremony saw a surprise appearance by NewTek's founder Tim Jenison who rose through the smoke from beneath the stage playing a hugh pipe organ and dressed as the "Phantom of the Opera."
