Art,
I do hope you can bring that one up again. People are always wanting it, and
I'd love to have it in the library under your own banner. I have a feeling
that it will all come rushing back to you if you power up the Amiga and the
compiler and get started.
I think the sense of community was one of the finest things about the Amiga in
its early days. I know that I loved being part of it. Our favorite mutual
friend is gone, of course – Dick Barnes. Several of the others are gone, as
well – some have died, and some have left the Amiga. But for many of us, the
community still exists, at least in part.
My laptop didn't have enough disk space for me to install OS/2. I did want it,
and when I need a new one, I'll make sure I can manage it. That will probably
not happen for several months more, though. I have a T3400, but only a 120m
drive. Maybe, when prices for the 610 come down a bit, I can get one of those,
and their drives are quite large.
I've wondered – do the OS/2 people have that sense of community? I can see
that it might develop there.
If you are serious about giving you Amiga away, there is a teacher here who
uses Amigas with his classes of gifted students, and he's always eager to get
an extra system or two. I'd have to search for his name, though. Maybe he'll
see this and speak up.
