Well that is nice, but my friend works on computers every day that have become
flakey because someone added a card and sometimes just a new TSR for that
matter. Then there are the really quirky things like you can't run card x and
card y in any series one system by so-and-so, but they'll hum in any model by
such-and-such. I now this sounds vague, but I don't work there he does, and
tells me the horror stories at our user-group meeting.
I'm not trashing the entire effort, I was just pointing out that it will take
years for the standards to be followed, in an efficient and precise manner.
About which time chairman bill and Intsmell will change the rules again. Look
at how long it took windows SW developers to take advantage of what was there,
though this may not be entirely their fault. I don't use pc's, not since `86,
when I heard of a better way. 😉
I'd rather not say where he works, it is one of the largest manufacturing
corps, in the world.
