Jonathan: It's true that SAS's code isn't great, but it's the best that's available on the Amiga. While some can afford to write in nicely optimized assembly code, most must put up with C, so when doing an apples to apples comparison of what people will find in the real world, you have to compare what people will really see and not what they might want to see. I have done some experimenting with hand optimizing assembly language with VistaPro and I came to the conclusion that if I had a couple of years to recode all of the key code in VP to assembly, I might hope to see about a 40% improvement in rendering speeds. It's sort of the same reason that I use DOS over Windows on the Pentium. Windows is like driving with the brake on. Clint <Chaocity>
