CIM/AMIGA
Tony,
<I have a friend who would like to join CIS. He has an Amiga computer. Will
the software CIS sends in his sign-up kit work on his machine?>
No. He can access CIS with any decent terminal program (my favorite is
Terminus, which is available here for downloading). If he is running OS 2.04
(or higher), has 3 megs of memory (1 chip) and 3-5 megs of space on his
harddrive he can use a lovely front end called AutoPilot. It is a commercial
program, the demo of which can be downloaded from the AmigaVendor library 9 as
AP.Lha (he might want to d/load the docs, APDOCS.lha also). If he doesn't
already have LHA, that can be downloaded from the AmigaUser library
(Archivers/Crunchers) as LHA138.run (self extracting).
AutoPilot is truly a lovely front end which will allow one to do most of the
CIS mail offline, saving quite a bit of money. If your friend likes it, he can
type GO SWREG and register it, after which he will get a magic email that will
turn it into the full version.
Hope this helps!
Asha
