Andrew:
Current on the agenda for 3.1 is reflective water, DXF output, direct
support of Opalvision, Picasso, Retina and EGS (though I am not yet certain
that I will get all of those boards working properly in that timeframe) as well
as an overall rendering speedup from porting from Manx C to SAS C. (Speedup
varies from 10% – 30% depending on processor and particular image rendered.)
Plus a few other features like a cloudmap display on the cloud control panel,
priority control to make multitasking more friendly as well as general attempts
to make VP easier to use.
I am setting things up so that updating to 3.1 and then to 4.0 will cost
the same as upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0, you'll just pay half in two installments
instead of all in one. <grin> So there will be no benefit in delaying
upgrading.
I will attempt to send out a mailer to all registered VP users, however
that may be beyond my budgetary capabilities. <sigh> I will announce the
release here on CIS. Right now I have a summer mailer (VRLI Times), but I have
so far only been able to send it to 7500 registered users, which is about half
of the list. I do have a stack which I have set aside to send people who
specifically request one, so if you would like one and haven't already received
one (dated July 1995), email your mailing address and I will put it in the
mail. (The VRLI database seems rather out of date, around 20% of the people on
it have moved since VRLI's last updating.)
