Paul, The answer to your questions depends on your answer to mine. In this stripped environment, does the really slow access to drive B happen only with the Autodesk diskettes, or with any diskettes? If this only occurs with Autodesk disks, then those are most likely the problem. Perhaps they were damaged before they got to you. If trying to access or run _any_ program from the floppy get you this behavior, then something is amis with the hardware most likely. Don't immediately assume the problem is the disk drive, though, as the disk controller card could be flaking out too.
