George, Problem 2 first. Bernie doesn't have those batteries in stock? Shame on 'im! If I was going to just take a WAG, I'd say that's probably a mercury battery or somesuch; long life, low drain. You should be able to get it at any electronics store which handles either brand; if they don't have it in stock, they should be able to order it. Whether or not they want to bother is another thing entirely. IF you exhaust all other possibilities let me know, and I can probably scare one up for you. Try locally first, though… it'd take forever if I send it to you. Okay, impedances: are you going into a low or high impedance input? Many mics have built in matching transformers; are there any docs on the mic in the package? (Many Shures, for example, can be converted between high and low impedance by removing the Canon plug and swapping a jumper). The main thing on that cable is going to be how it's wired. I wouldn't suggest buying it until you have the battery and can check it out in the store. Another possibility: if you are handy with a soldering gun we can walk you through building up your own cable. Let me know how the battery search progresses. Rick
