I am going to tell you a sad story which may save you money, time, and
aggrevation. I have been a subscriber to CompuServe for over three years and a
member of Comp-U-Store for almost as long. I am a mature woman -which means I
have grandchildren. I have a good credit rating and am experienced in
purchasing merchandise through catalog, retailer, telephone and computer.
These are my credentials. I guarantee that all I am about to tell you is true
and not exaggerated.
In the middle of last May I decided to buy a copier for my home office.
I priced a Canon PC-10 on Comp-U-Store, liked the price, and gave them the
order. I was told it would be delivered in six weeks. Eight weeks later I
called to inform them that I had not received the copier. When the operator
checked, he discovered that seven weeks earlier my charge had been refused by
the bank. I explained that there was no reason for such a refusal so he
checked with his supervisor. He then told me that there had been some sort of
a mix-up and that *many* charges had been incorrectly refused and mine was one
of them. I wondered that I had not been told of this seven weeks ago so that I
could have taken steps to correct the problem. He said that I should have been
informed but somehow it had slipped through the cracks and would I like to
reorder? I did reorder — this was around July 22. This time the charge
showed up on the bill having been posted the 29th of July. I waited the
scheduled six weeks and, when I still had no copier, I called to find out why.
I was told that they would check and call me back. In two days I was called
and told that the copier had been shipped on September 2. In a few days I had
a postcard that told me the copier had been shipped on September 3, but still
no copier. (CONTINUED IN NEXT MESSAGE)
