<CONCLUSION OF PBS-TV/CO MSG>
The online element of this show will originate from the Electronic Convention
Center (GO CONVENTION), where certain special features which expedite online
conferencing will have to be used extensively to insure that the largest number
of people get a chance to "be on TV" (/BUFFER commands, auto-queuing, etc. for
those familiar with the Convention Center). There will be a rehearsal in the
Convention Center at 9:30 PM EDT ON OCT 1, in which we will review these
features and go over some other details. We are asking that you attend as a
prerequisite for participating in the PBS TV/CO event later in the month.
The producers have also asked everyone to submit a brief comment or question in
advance about science fiction's relationship to science fact (250 char max).
This is to fill in potential lulls in the conversation caused by the speed
limitations of online operations (ie to increase CO throughput), and as backup
in case they temporarily lose the carrier any time during the show.
To reserve your slot in the PBS TV/CO, you will need to leave a message to
SYSOP in Subtopic 11 of the Space Forum containing the following 4 items:
o one SciFi/SciFact comment or question (250 char or about 3 lines)
o your first and last name
o your home state
o the name of this forum (for system accounting purposes)
You are also invited to join in all the planning and preparations for this
first merger of TV and online conferencing through discussions with the show's
producers, who are logging into the Space Forum regularly to keep us all up to
date on the exciting "behind the scenes" preparations. Please GO SPACEFORUM to
reserve your slot before the Oct 1 rehearsal, and feel free to join the
