Ed,
While I understand your motivations, I do feel that it was quite wrong to
post the message with the intentionally-misleading subject matter. While you
may have wanted to insure that your message was read by all members of the
forum, many members are attempting to keep themselves limited to a very tight
budget, and your attempt to mislead them to spend money to read the message was
wrong.
Regarding Steve's actions – well, I've mixed feelings regarding his choice
of a substitute header, but feel that his actions were probably more moderate
than what I would have recommended or done (oh, but were I King). Personally, I
feel that it would have been more appropriate to have just completely deleted
the message from the message base (and sent you a private message explaining
what I had done and why). I do not think that Steve's actions should be
considered "censorship", merely looking out for the interests of the majority
of the forum membership. The Amigaforum is a class operation, and doesn't need
"bait and switch" tactics to trick Forum members into spending more of their
money here than they feel comfortable with.
The preceeding has been the personal opinion of but one member of the
AmigaForum.
…Bob
P.S. I do wish you luck with your project.
