Postscript driver for the DJ and have come across a few. The most popular is
called GoScript by a company in California. When I contacted them regarding
the program for the Amiga (which is now only available on IBM) the marketing
director said they need to reap some $$ from the current program before they
tackle a new format. I then mentioned he contact CBM to see if they will aid
in his development costs. He was quite intrigued by this and said he would. I
do not know if he did, or if CBM would even be interested, but I would hope so.
If you are, please write/call them (CBM) to let them know. The combination of
the Amiga, a DeskJet and Postscript is quite nice. The same combo at a cost of
$1,000 (DJ at 700 and Goscript at 300) is a killer.
One more thing, when I got my printer, there was no cable in the box. I then
read a review in an IBM magazine which said the printer comes with the Times
Roman and Helvetica cartridges and a "special" printer cable. I investigated
this and found that this was not the case. I currently use the DJ on a 2000
with a standard parallel cable without propblems.
I love this printer, it's quiet, fast and great quality. Don't look forward
(too much) to a large improvement in quality with version 1.3 printer drivers.
These are still not Desktop Publishing quality and aren't that quick with all
the features ON (like anti-aliasing, 300 dpi, etc.). They probably look fine
with a dot matrix printer, but the detail still isn't good enough for a 300 dpi
printer. That is why I'm going after the Downloadable fonts, etc. GOOD LUCK,
