DIAL OUT WITH AUDIT
Wayne,
At my place of employment we use VAXPAC (see Bill Mayhew's message) as the
software to control the dial-out. It is invoked through a .COM procedure
that first logs the user ID and time to a log file before running the
VAXPAC software. After completion the .COM procedure logs the name and
time off to the same log file. The problem is, of course, that it does not
track the number called.
For that, our company records the activity on _all_ phone lines in the
Northern Telecom SL-1 System and gets reports by line (including modem
lines) of all outgoing calls showing the number called and the time.
VAXPAC can be configured with System-wide choices as well as personal
choices, and can allow Manual Dial-outs. I don't know how
flexable/restrictive this can be made since I'm not in the Systems end and
havn't looked behind the sceens on this one.
