Now I am really confused. After repeatedly trying to get the drive to come up I decided to say the heck with it, reformat the thing and be done. That led to the problems described in my previous message. Since I have 2 hard drives on that system and my 3D stuff happened to be on the second drive, I booted with a floppy, accessed the second drive, and went happily to work for a few hours. I then turned the computer off for an hour or so and rebooted – again from the floppy. Lo and behold, both partitions of the problem disk appeared. I removed the floppy, warm booted and the problem drive came back as normal. What the heck is going on??? When the drive wouldn't come up the activity light went on and off very rhythmically for a couple of minutes before the system gave up and went to the floppy. If you listened closely you could hear the head going back and forth over the drive — not usually an health sign. And yet now it has 'recovered' for no apparent reason! Has anyone seen this type of thing? Any ideas on what is happening with this drive? -Brian
