Ron, I'd go along with Roy's recommendation of the base hardware. You'll definitely be much better off leaving room to grow. And ditto for finding a good dealer in your area. Although I had a hard time doing so… but get in touch with the nearest user's group, and see who people like doing business with. Software-wise: for any video whatsoever… get DeluxePaintIII! It's very easy to do animation, simple titling, and paint work. And, although it does not use "HAM" mode, I've found HAM to be more trouble than it's worth. If you want full color– buy a framebuffer! (and now there is one- the Firecracker- but no paint software yet). About half of my commercial work is done with DeluxePaintIII, using the Hi-Res, 16 color mode. That, along with careful pallette selection, will minimize the jaggies. Genlock/encoder-wise: My recommendation– if you *ever* plan to do work for someone other than yourself, figure on the "above $1000" category. You get what you pay for when dealing with video hardware. Even if you do get a bit more in the Amiga market. Happy shopping…. Jeff.
