Bob, Almost certainly, the disk in question is Seagate's ST225. (I say this not out of any knowledge of what Suitable was shipping, but just based on the fact that by far the lion's share of 20Mb disks sold into the pc-level market are ST225s.) Some people say the ST225s are just inherently unreliable. I don't quite buy that… I know several that have been running Just Fine for a *l*o*n*g* time. You can probably pick up an ST225 on the open market for $200-300, if not less. Someone else may be able to tell you what the classical problems are with this drive, or how to diagnose it further… I don't know. -Bill
