Sorry for the delay in replying. Actually, I had entirely forgotten that I had entered the note and I do not log in very often. I also cannot locate the original question. The Rainbow sequences are listed in the owners manual. As the previous reply says all the VT series from VT52 upwards are ANSI compatible, but the 200 series on supports more sets. At work I have an excellent description of character set standards, I will see if the author will let me upload it. The basic mechanism is that you use escape sequences to designate sets into G0 G1 G2 or G3 and Shift In/Shift out control codes (the ctrl codes mentioned) to invoke these into GL and GR. GL maps to the lower 128 codes of the 8 bit byte space and GR to the upper half. ECMA (European Computer Manufactures Association) maintains a registry of code sets for ISO and assigns each one an escape sequence for designating into G sets. There are also many private code sets.
