There was an earlier thread of messages regarding problems with using WUTIL 3.12 on Suitable's new MS-DOS 3.10b. I volunteered to write the author, Venzenz Esser in Germany, to convey the problems and questions we had. He promptly sent me the new WUTIL 3.2 executables, documentation and sources, which work correctly under MS-DOS 3.10b (as well as earlier versions of MS-DOS). He had already sent copies to DEC's internal EasyNet, Suitable Solutions, and IRUG, but he didn't have access to CompuServe. I have uploaded it and it is now available as WUTIL3.ZIP, currently in library 3. With Herr Esser's adaptation to MS-DOS 3.10b, I feel that WUTIL is again the best option for Rainbow owners to format and partition hard disks. The author is actively supporting WUTIL for use with all versions of MS-DOS, CP/M-86/80, XENIX and Windows. It's got the best boot loaders, including one that turns on Turbow for faster boots. If the documentation is accurate, the author has improved upon the CHS formatter and the FDISK partitioner, noting bugs in each of them and doing it corretly in WUTIL. The source is available and unambiguously in the public domain. I advocate reporting any future problems with WUTIL to the author and continuing to regard WUTIL as the primary formatter & repartitioner for the Rainbow.
