As you said, "solve unique problems" – it's getting pretty tough to find
that software which solves unique problems. Certainly, productivity tools
are not unique. Neither is DTP or multimedia or even video now. If we can
find it, we'll sell it.
But John is so right about the market sizes (and John has been one of the
strongest Amiga avocates I have known). For example – we sell SOUND
BLASTER for the PClone market. It is an all-in-one audio board that has
synthesized music, MIDI interface, digital voice sampling and playback,
text-to-speech, joystick port, microphone port, volume control, etc. All
the stuff that's already in the Amiga! The difference is that we sell over
10,000 units per month, here in the U.S. – that's considerably more than
the number of Amiga's selling here. It's a matter of supply/demand. I
have a hard time recommending the Amiga platform to a developer, unless the
effort is somehow minimal (which it never is). It's such a great risk.
OTOH, if the product can sell in the European Amiga market, it might be
worth it. There, the Amiga sells superbly.
