Mike, except that most 'consumer' laser players DON'T have a serial interface. The industrial and commercial ones do. I guess I just don't understand why Pioneer can't put a serial interface into the 3070 or something…. I'm certainly going to be picking up a laser player in the next six months or so. Right now it appears the choice is to get a commercial deck that has the serial interface, but no special effects [the digital stuff for the extended play disks – I like to look at the Looney Tunes frame by frame, and they are on extended play 🙂 ], or get a consumer deck that does the effects but has no port. Actually it is no contest. I'll end up with one with a serial port. I'll just miss the other features. –jp–
