Well, I contacted a number of sales reps from companies that sell industrial (rs232 equipped) laser disk players. I left my name and number, telling them I wanted a good working used or other bargain priced LPD…and after a couple of months I got a call… DIsks suitable for AV? Hmmm.. Since you want controllable disks, you need the standard, or CAV format. These are ramdom access laser disks. They are available in a wide range of formats, especially educational material, which is great for AV courses. There are others too, such as the Voyager Spacecraft disks I got detailing the NASA Voyager missions… Other more popular titles often come in CAV format, such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I have some old monster movies (Dracula and The Phantom) that have at least one side in CAV format, along with extra info like theatrical trailers and hundreds of still photos. -Lou
