#Radio Help
Dear Betty:
Hi! How are you? It's been a long time. I decided once
more to come here from some help, since you've always been very supportive
answering my questions. As I've told you in other ocassions I live in
Argentina, and because of that, connecting with CIS is very expensive for
me (about U$S 150 per hour-yes, one hundred and fifty!), so I am always
searching for alternative ways of communicating with you. The other day I
heard that you can use radio instead of telephone to access data services
and when I saw that you had a section on amateur radio I thought of asking
the following questions: 1) Is it true? How does it work? 2) What equipment
do I need? (what's the cost?) 3) Are CIS charges the same? How do I access
CIS from a radio? 4) What baud rate can I achieve effectively from
overseas?
It would be great if it works because the most expensive part is the long
distance call. Once again thanks for your attention and help!. Bye
