Thanks John, I wasn't aware that the formatting got screwed up. How do I post a message and make CIS keep the original formatting? I know on GEnie you type *SN instead of *S, but I have no idea how to do that here. I'll repost it if someone can tell me how to do it. Upgrade policy: this is the way it _usually_ works: – major upgrades (ie: 2.x to 3.0): usually include a new manual, and have lots of new features, so the upgrade fee is substantial. – minor upgrades (ie: 1.5 to 1.6): usually include an addendum to the manual, and have some new features, so the upgrade fee is moderate. – maintenance upgrades (ie: 2.0 to 2.01): usually include just bug fixes, and no new features, so the upgrade fee is minimal or non- existant. This is the same as most software companies. Of course there are always exceptions. We usually offer maintenance upgrades free as patches online. If you want to order the latest disk (you can order this at any time and get the latest modules) we charge $10. If we just release a version, like Art Expression 1.0, and we fix a lot of bugs (like 1.01), we often send that out free when you register. Depends on whether the maintenance update was needed to fix lots of problems or if we just tweaked a few features. Minor upgrades also vary—we have had some that were free. For example, PgS 2.0 to 2.1 and 2.1 to 2.2 were free. 2.2 was a pretty major upgrade—maybe we should have called that 3.0 and charged for it? 😉 We do charge shipping on all upgrades, including free ones. $5 in the US or Canada, $15 overseas. We try to just break even on shipping and handling. We do offer a free upgrade, regardless of the upgrade price, to people who buy the old version after a specific date. (This is to prevent old copies from being returned from the distribution channel and to remove that element of risk from the consumer's mind.) Cheers, Michael @ Soft-Logik Publishing Corp.
