When you "flatten" or "colapse" a composition, you are getting rid of all layer information and creating a single raster image (as opposed to several, independent images). After you do that, you can then save the image out as Targa and other formats. The problem is that in the process, you no longer have a composition, you've just colapsed it down to a simple raster image. To go back and continue to work with it, you have to reload it. At any rate, this is just a minor anoyiance. The program is as adicting as 3DS. You keep playing with it and creating some awsome images.
