David, just so you know, in previous versions of Imagine, changes made in the Stage editor would not "stick" unless they were made in a key frame, for example the first frame where an object appears. In Imagine 2.0, they added the "position bar", "alignment bar" and "size bar" menu commands to allow you to create a new keyframe without leaving the Stage editor. This is why your changes "stick". It doesn't explain, however, why you couldn't get the changes to "stick" in frame 1, though! The only reason I see is that you were in some other frame, for example frame 2, when you loaded all your objects; obviously, going to frame 1 and fiddling with object positions would be illogical.
