Barbara,
With Lightwave 3.0 (if that's something that you are into) the framestores are
saved in compressed format that is smaller than the compressed IFF format that
LW saves out in rendering the frames. This certainly is an advantage for the
animator. Also, the framestores are much faster to get to videotape due to the
fact that they load in just about 2 seconds.
I have begun to save all of my images in framestore format for these reasons.
However, whenever Pegger is released I may switch to IFF saves that will be
automatically compressed via JPEG routines residing somewhere in the OS.
Just my $.02 worth.
