I'm joining this thread late…but you may be interested in Fractal Design's
Painter for Mac/PC. According to Mark Zimmer [Comart/Lib 10] the new version –
a.k.a. X3 – will allow you to paint on 3D objects! The objects can be imported
as .DXF files [from most CAD packages].
He refuses to disclose a release date, but you might want to stop by that forum
and check it out – sounds exciting.
