Gary, What has the temperature been in your studio? I started having failures where the HD locked even when no activity was happening. I had to move a card that was next to the hardcard style mounted HD on the GVP board, remove the backpanel insert next to it and put an airconditioner in the suite to keep the ambient room temp below 80 F to avoid the failures. Your symptoms sound thermal in nature. Basically the test you can use is to run without the cover and possibley with an additional small fan on a desktop top move air over the open case (set it a few feet away on medium or low setting). Then there is the fail test (that I don't recommend) to take the case off when the machine is cold, heat the board real good with a hair drier/heat gun then try to boot. wmc – via Autopilot!
