Hi Doug, There was a very short item on the news Wednesday? night on Denver's ABC affiliate. Someone found a very large crystal claimed to be "priceless". A picture was shown on TV: it appeared rather deep red, very translucent, and rhombohedral. I think the report said it was found in an abandoned mine in Colorado. It was donated to the Denver Natural History museum, I think. Having seen nothing about this in either of Denver's newspapers the past two days, I decided to join the Geology forum to see if I could find something on this. I don't see anything; hasn't there been anything on this? That crystal really looked beautiful on TV. I would guess it was Rhodochrosite, but the TV report didn't say. Bill.
