Speaking of acronyms .. the first Report Generator program I ever heard of was
written circa 1961 by a couple of IBM system engineers, who wanted to speed up
a project they were doing for the 1401 computer. They called it: "YAC YAC
TIGER" – You avoid coding, you avoid compilation .. can't remember exactly what
they said the TIGER stood for, but bet the last three letters were .. Generate
Easy Reports".
IBM liked the idea, but couldn't permit the name. So the package eventually
became available as FARGO. Helped a lot of computer types get that paper out
faster.
