TapeDisk with an Exabyte would be slower, for sure, but I can think of many situations where you'd want it. I'm on the verge of ordering it myself. I've had a couple of jobs recently where I've had to render multiple 30 second spots, and do multiple composites, etc… where the frame count exceeds the space on my network hardrives (4.5 gigs), and I don't really want to spend $$$ on more HD space (which is NEVER enough anyway) right now, so I'm thinking of getting TapeDisk. At this point, I'm using backup software to temporarily archive files to make room for other files, but managing this is incredibly tedious and inefficient – TapeDisk would simplify and speed the process up significantly. I could move the files I don't need at the moment from the HD to the Exabyte, render the frame I need, VP the frames I need, and still have room for more (10gigs per tape!). It's basically what I'm doing now, but with a DOS drive letter and the ability to do a simple "dir" command I think things would be a LOT easier. John Tissavary (LUNA cie, inc)
