#PAR FIX Comm Timeout!!
After 3 hours of experimentation, I have found the following workaround to the
"Fatal Error: Communications Timeout" problem with the new PAR software . . .
Install as follows:
1. After downloading the new software, unzip it to a temporary directory.
2. CD to your DPS_PAR directory and unzip the files in the PAR_ALL.ZIP file
from the _temp_ directory — replace all existing files. (Avoid using install
program).
3. Reboot (or in OS/2, kill the dos session and restart it.)
4. Once everything is reloaded after the Reboot, run the PAR.EXE program.
5. If the Fatal Error: Communications Timeout still happens, proceed to step
6.
6. Run windows.
7. Run the WINTBCIV.EXE program (located in your DPS_PAR directory).
8. From the Machine Select area (upper right corner of window) press the
"Black" option buttion.
9. Press the Close button (lower right corner of window).
10. Exit windows and return to your DPS_PAR directory.
11. Run PAR.EXE (it should now load OK.)
12. Send me a check for $25.00 <BG>

I found this via much permutations. I do not specifically know why it works,
except that it must update the TBCIV settings (I do not have a TBCIV), which
subsequently causes the software to operate normally.
