Certain Pentium-based machines need a little kick start when trying to get them
to recognize more than 64Mb of RAM. Here's the secret (courtesy of Jamie
Clay):
First, does all the memory count up during initial boot?, if so read
on…
o Get QEMM 7.04 (actually you can't yet purchase this, but you can
get the patch to QEMM 7.x on CIS in the QEMM forum)
o Then you use the(undocumented) SCANMEM command to display the amount
of memory the machine has. SCANMEM returns a memory range called
USERAM.
o That range then needs to be plugged into the QEMM386.SYS's USERAM
option in the CONFIG.SYS.
Example: DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM USERAM=XXXXX-XXXXX
From there it works like a champ. Note – you needed to add the RAM
option to get Windows to work with it.
