#NetWare 3.12 ABEND w/r3
Some months ago we replaced our LANtastic 5.0 server with a Novell NetWare
3.12 server. That has solved the file locking problem we had with materials
during Net Render. But we now have a more serious problem: when we try to Net
Queue a project, then save the project on the modelling workstation before the
slaves have loaded their first frames of it, the SERVER crashes HARD! It gives
an ABEND (which totally and completely locks up the NetWare server without hope
of proper shutdown, which wreaks havok with our 2GB of RAID 5 storage!), with a
message similar to the following:
General Protection Processor Exception (error code 003A0000)
OS Ver 3.12 (25 user) 8/12/93
Running Process: Interrupt Service Routine
Interrupted process Server 0 (2 nested count 2) 02 process
EIP 00ED41D0

I suspect that the fact that 3DS is DOS-Extended and running in 32-bit mode
under a 16-bit DOS may be interfering with the NetWare Workstation VLM (Virtual
Loadable Module) Shell on the workstations, though I can't imagine why that
would crash the SERVER!
Anyone have any ideas on this? (Note: I will also post this message in the
appropriate Novell NetWare forum.)
