No there aren't scratches.
What you see is a textured surface that composes the smooth surface that can
only be created by a shrinking cooling effect. Areas level with a grove running
around the perimeter, like an orange peal.
Even when the gravel has been scuffled up the glossy surface appears in these
depressed rings.
