To be honest, my part in this thread is more of Devil's Advocate than anything else. I'm genuinely interested in getting OS/2, otherwise I wouldn't ask questions. >>But forget about that. My main point is that I don'tunderstand why people don't jump to a new platform if that platform really gives them what they need<< Two reasons: 1) Beta was superior to VHS but a Beta tape machine would do me no good today, no matter how loyal I was to it. When I go to a store that sells software I'd prefer to see more direct OS/2 support from the developers. I know it runs DOS and Windows programs fine now, but that may not always be the case, given Microsoft's tricky business history when it comes to controling code. 2) Until I have the time to down my machine and play with OS/2, possibly putting it out of action while I bug hunt, I have to rely on people's opinions. Forgive me, but I've been lied to before so I usethe opinion of others only as a base for me to develop my own conclusions. In other words, I don't take any one's claims at face value. They influence me, but they are weighted. I'd love to have the time and budget to experiment with everything that strikes my fancy. Your situation sounds ideal. Where I am now, however, there's always a shortage of stations and if mine's not busy, I have to work hard to defend it against those who would waste a brand new P90 on 2d Autocad drawings. Ugh. <g> And as far as my personal machine goes, I'm just not paid enough to do it <g>.
