Confusing question. You can rotoscope single frame images from a deck with
timecode and the proper controller, but it really would not be live live. The
only way I know of pulling off a real live deal is to map the portion of the
object where you want the live video to be with BLACK (0,0,0), and render, to
disk or to tape. Then you can play the video back, key off of the (0,0,0) to
bring in the live material and be recording that to another deck at the same
time. Careful what background you us here. It will take a minimum of two VTRS
and some editing equipment to accomplish this. If it does not have to be truely
live, then rotoscoping would be the faster/less expensive way to go. I have
rotoscoped with only one deck before. It uses a bit more drive space with one
deck, but if you are wanting to save the TGAs then you are gonna use up the
space anyway.
I am sure there are some other methods, but the above method works fine for me.
