I second JT's list, and add some more.
3D DVE type motion, adding depth for 2d images when spun.
spline based paths for objects with ease, etc.
The ability to assign a mono .wav file to an object, and have it be represented
in its "sound space" by where the object is on the screen. If the object is
more left than right, then the sound plays louder to the left than the right.
Scale could also be implemented, where the scale of the object could affect the
volume. If you all really want some work, you could implement some sort of
Dolby surround encoding. (for 3DS R5 too)
an idiot proof scan-> spline autotracer. (supporting TWAIN)
.AI/.CDW import/export
sub-pixel positioning (like After Effects) and field rendering
Onion skinning
an NT version (multithreaded) would be nice
an interface with toolbars, and a "most used" customizable toolbar that allows
you to add features to it. (similar to AMI PRO-the word processor's toolbar
selection) This would give you little icon's for most every function, and
allow you to put them wherever you like. A great time saver. Possibly
"roll-up"s if they fit the functions.
Photoshop plug in support on individual animated objects. (so one actor can
be, say "painted", while over an unaffected backdrop)
A way to organize everything in project groups, and see them visually. (sounds
can have labels)
