what JD was saying is that the minimum amount of memory in all current
machines will go up, as well as those being newly produced. Only new
machines, if they are set up that way, will use 8 MB SIMMS. The rest will
put heavy pressure on demand for 1 MB and 4 MB SIMMS. That was the thrust
of his argument.
To my mind, it makes a lot of sense. Chicago and other OS's will need
more memory, not less, unless something radically changes in the future.
Or to put it another way, "the program will expand to fill the available
RAM, and demand more."
